Installation

System requirements:
Android version 1.5 or higher.
Pro: Android version 2 or higher.
A device that includes a vibrate function.

To install a Cerbroid app, simply search for "Cerbroid" in the Android market on your device, and install the application of your choice.

Make sure to deactivate or uninstall any other applications that automatically change your sound profile setting (Normal, Vibrate, Silent). INCLUDING a different version of Vibrate Ringer. This is due to a limitation in the Android operating system, and is required in order for Vibrate Ringer to work. Here are some examples of applications that automatically change your sound profile setting:
vibrate mode by force
Profile Auto-Changer
Auto Mode Change
Auto Change To Vibrate
Profile Changer
Location Profile
Simple Sound Profile Widget
Automatic Profiles
Silence Here
GPS/Wifi Phone Silencer
Many others
(If you think an app is listed here by mistake, or if you have one to add, please contact us.)

Once installed, open the application to activate it. You can find directions on how to create your own individual settings in the sections below. Once you have things set up the way you want, it's always a good idea to have someone call or text you to make sure things behave as you expect.

Keep the software running in order to make sure your device will ring and vibrate properly. TODO: find out how to keep it running as a service.

The main settings screen:

Sound profile

Choose from the 4 standard options available on most phones:

Vibrate loop

Note: (pro version only) Vibrate patterns chosen for text message alerts will only be played once, never on loop.

Vibrate pattern (regular version)

Select this option to choose the vibrate pattern for your device. Touch "Preview" to try the vibrate pattern you've selected.

Default phone pattern (pro version only)

Select this option to choose the default vibrate pattern for when your phone rings. This will be the vibrate pattern used when your device doesn't recognize the incoming phone number as one of your contacts, or when you have not chosen a specific vibrate pattern for the contact that is calling. Touch "Preview" to try the vibrate pattern you've selected.

Default text pattern (pro version only)

Select this option to choose the default vibrate pattern for when you receive a text message. This will be the vibrate pattern used when your device doesn't recognize the sender as one of your contacts, or when you have not chosen a specific vibrate pattern for the contact that sent the text message. Touch "Preview" to try the vibrate pattern you've selected.

Configure contacts (pro version only)

Select this option in order to choose vibrate patterns for each of the contacts stored on your device.

The vibrate pattern selection screen:

This screen will appear whenever you are selecting a vibrate pattern. All of the vibrate patterns currently available will be listed, and the currently selected vibrate pattern will be checked. Simply select the vibrate pattern you prefer, and you will be returned to the previous screen.

Note: (pro version only) If you would like to create your own vibrate pattern, select the "NEW PATTERN" option at the top of the vibrate patterns list. You will be taken to a different screen where you can create your own new pattern.

All of your previously created patterns will be listed in the vibrate patterns list. You can always edit or delete the patterns you have created by finding them in the list and touching the "Edit" button.

Edit vibrate pattern screen (pro version only):

When you are editing or creating a new vibrate pattern, you will be taken to the "Edit pattern" screen.

Simply follow the on-screen directions to create your pattern. The first step is to enter the vibrate pattern instructions for your device.

Enter a list of vibrates and pauses in milliseconds. Use spaces between each number, with pauses and vibrates alternating like this: pause vibrate pause vibrate...

For example, the default Android vibrate pattern is a 1 second vibrate, followed by a 1 second pause:
0 1000 1000

Another example is the "Bingo" pattern in Cerbroid:
0 200 300 200 300 100 150 100 150 200 300

Be sure that you only enter numbers and spaces. Anything else will be rejected. Creating patterns the way you want them takes a bit of time, but as long as you keep experimenting you will eventually get the pattern that you want. Use the "Preview" button to test what you have entered so far.

Once you are finished editing your pattern, enter a name in the second text area.

Use the "Save" button to save the pattern you have created.

Use the "Cancel" button to get rid of any changes you have made.

Use the "Delete" button to remove the pattern completely (only for patterns that were saved previously, not for new patterns that have not been saved yet).

Configure contacts screen (pro version only):

This screen lists all of the contacts currently on your device. If you have a long list of contacts, you may need to be patient for this screen to load.

Each of your contacts is listed, with the vibrate patterns chosen for both incoming calls and incoming text messages shown below. When no specific vibrate pattern has been chosen for a contact, "Default" is listed as the vibrate pattern, and the default vibrate pattern chosen on the main settings screen will be used for this contact.

Simply touch a contact to set the vibrate pattern for phone calls or text messages. To clear the vibrate patterns that have been selected for this contact, simply select "Clear this contact's vibrate patterns", and the vibrate patterns for that contact will be returned to default.
